Monero can be mined on both CPUs and GPUs, but the latter is much less efficient than the former, and generally are not recomended.

Why Mine Monero?

Mining keeps the Monero network alive and well, and also contributes to lower transaction fees. You will be rewarded XMR for your efforts, whether that is finding a block solo, which should be noted is very difficult for a low-end PC, or recieving regular payouts working through a pool.
